Large Sitka Spruce trees on the steep sides of the Oregon coast need to be strong to survive the winter storms. This rocky coast, lined with sea stacks and headlands, testifies to the power of the Pacific Ocean to rearrange this landscape. Painted from a photograph by artist Kay Barnes.
